It’s my hope that if they continue the JJ Trek-verse into the Next Generation, that young Riker is beardless the whole movie. Then at the end of the film, when they’ve all saved the day and look onward to their continuing adventures, Riker makes some offhanded comment that he’s thinking of growing one. Then in the sequel, he’ll have one.
It’d be a cool nod to the show.
